BLUE grows client base, supporting pioneers in digital solutions, emissions treatment and marine defence

The first few months of 2018 have seen BLUE’s client base continue to grow. The increasingly diverse range of clients joining our roster illustrates the need for the marine and energy industries to communicate on the most pressing issues facing them today – with our new clients particularly reflecting the march of digitalisation and the need to comply with environmental regulation

Multinational SES Networks and Canada, Singapore and UK-based Sedna represent the physical and software elements that are powering the digital transformation in shipping. Global satellite communications company SES Networks supplies the physical infrastructure for connectivity, ensuring that the broadband speeds that vessels rely on for ship-to-shore communication and internet use continue to rise. Sedna, meanwhile, builds software tailored to the team needs of shipbrokers, traders and shipowners -- replacing antiquated email with a transaction management system that rationalises negotiating and handling contracts. BLUE is supporting both clients on a retained basis, building brand and reputation to create platforms for business development.

BLUE has also taken on campaign work for Denmark-based BLOC (Blockchain Labs for Open Collaboration). BLOC is dedicated to driving collaboration within shipping and energy in order to explore the potential uses of blockchain in improving digital infrastructure for real-life industry scenarios. BLUE has supported BLOC’s announcement of a funding partnership with Lloyd’s Register Foundation to build practitioner networks and launch demonstrator projects.

BLUE has also begun working with France-based LAB, a supplier of emissions treatment systems, or scrubber technology; a technology that has a significant role to play as shipping prepares for new rules for ship fuel in 2020. BLUE is delivering retained PR and communications to support LAB’s work in supplying the technology to shipowners.

Most recently, BLUE welcomed back a former client in Scotland-based James Fisher Defence (JFD), specialists in marine defence technologies. BLUE will work to support brand-building and corporate communications.

These developments all show an increasing awareness of the need for strong brands as businesses innovate to tackle the most vital issues faced in today’s market and as the marine and energy sectors professionalise their PR and communications to support brand building in these global sectors.

In support of this client growth, BLUE is also growing its team. We recently welcomed two new account executives, Tamsin Kingsley and Beth Katuszka. 

Tamsin has previously worked as a journalist, beginning her career at the Oxford Mail before moving to a busy national news servicing agency. In these roles, she gained experience in the operation of national newspapers and magazines and wrote for several well-known national titles and publications. Tamsin holds an Honours degree from the University of Portsmouth where she studied Journalism and Media.

Beth holds a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Public Relations, Media & Marketing from Canterbury Christ Church University. She has previous experience working in-house for the UK budget hotel chain Travelodge, and prior to this had completed an industrial placement year with car manufacturer Vauxhall/Opel, working in the press office.
