Seven members of the BLUE team and seven BLUE clients nominated for their work in 2016 joined 400 other shipping leaders for the Lloyd’s List Global Awards at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London last night.

Long a centre for maritime study and research, Charles II founded the Royal Observatory in 1675 for “finding the longitude of places”, and navigators from across the world still set their clocks according to its time of day. So it was in the home of Britain’s maritime history that an esteemed panel of judges recognised those who are presently doing the most for shipping’s future.

From the acknowledgement of Ince & Co’s legal savvy in the ‘i-Law Maritime Lawyer of the Year’, and Carbon War Room’s collaborative efforts to bring together industry heavyweights for ‘Deal of the Year’, to the appreciation shown for GAC’s cutting-edge EnvironHull in the ‘HPH Environment Award’, and the state-of-the-art technology at the heart of Parker Kittiwake, ECOSLOPS, and Norsepower’s nominations for the ‘Maritime Engineering Innovation Award’, and AkzoNobel’s marine coatings brand, International in the ‘Lloyd’s List Intelligence Big Data’ category BLUE is enormously proud to be working with such successful organisations.

A special mention should go to Parker Kittiwake and GAC for winning their respective categories. But as the judges made clear on the night, it’s not just about celebrating individual achievements. It’s also about recognising the transformation that those nominated are bringing across our industry, and successfully tapping into the opportunities that modern shipping presents.
