BLUE Communications has recently been appointed by Stena Bulk, one of the world’s most progressive tanker shipping companies, as its PR and communications agency, under a long-term retained agreement aimed at helping Stena Bulk to articulate its progressive innovation, decarbonisation, and commercial agenda to the global shipping industry.
BLUE is providing ongoing PR and communications support to the organisation, spanning corporate and thought leadership positioning, media relations, content creation, speaker opportunities and event support.
Founded in 1982, Stena Bulk has been a leading player in the tanker segment for nearly 40 years, taking a pioneering role in delivering safe and cost-efficient transportation of a variety of liquid cargo around the world.
Stena Bulk plays an important role to underpin the global energy mix via the transportation of petroleum products, with a fleet consisting of some 120 vessels, ranging from Suezmax and MR tankers to LNG carriers and the most modern tanker designs. Stena Bulk is a part of the Stena Sphere - which has about 19 000 employees globally - enabling the organisation to align cutting-edge competence spanning several areas of industry – including shipbuilding and manning, technology innovation, and financing.
A core focus of the communications programme is to explore the organisation’s focus on sustainability excellence. For Stena Bulk, this focus means two things. First, it is about ‘doing the right thing’ by the world and the oceans. Secondly, it also recognises that ‘doing the right thing’ is entrepreneurial, not risky, in the context of a rapidly changing market.
As the shipping industry faces a huge challenge to reduce its sustainability impact, Stena Bulk is aiming to reach its ambition to become one of the first carbon-neutral vessel operators in the world by 2040, and a net zero business by 2050.
Commenting on the retainer agreement with Stena Bulk, Amie Pascoe, Director and BLUE Engage Lead, said: “We are very pleased to be working with such a forward-thinking and progressive voice in our industry as Stena Bulk, and to support them with communicating all of their actions in the decarbonisation fight.
“Stena Bulk’s commitment to spearheading shipping’s fuel innovation and the sector’s journey to reduce emissions aligns fully with our goals at BLUE, and we are looking forward to continuing to communicate their truly market-leading story into the long term.”
